    Name of assignment or project: “Research and Training Action for System On Chip Design (REASON)”

    Main project features: The goal is to facilitate integration of the academic and research institutions of Central and Eastern Europe working in the field of microelectronics into the mainstream R&D activities going on in the EU countries. Practical training in usage and maintenance of advanced CAD tools. Development and deployment of Web-based training materials. Training actions in the field of system-on-chip design and ASICs for wireless communication, networking, and multimedia. Special conference sessions and/or tutorials on industrial and educational problems. In the years 2002 to 2005 about 7600 participants from all European countries and many countries outside Europe participated in about 300 actions and events: courses, tutorials, seminars, summer schools, series of lectures etc. The main topic was microelectronic and microsystem design, systems on chip, information technologies, etc. The project consortium included 22 partners: 16 from EU member states (including 11 partners from new member states in Central Europe), 2 from EU candidate countries and 4 from the former Soviet Union.

    Activities performed: Planning the course syllabuses, preparation training materials (handouts, Web-based materials and multimedia), writing the Handbook as co-author of international consortium, the course delivery, arrangement the study visits.
